short course questions re: sat and sun, commuting

Hi Coach P

3 questions:

1.  Is it OK to switch the Sat and Sun long runs and bikes (the program reminds me a lot of the OS).

2.  If bricking after/before a long bike should I do the full time allotted or cut it down?  (E.g., 30 min = 15) or follow the plan as written?

3.  During the summers, I like to bike commute when I can, but I'd guess the add'l TSS at about 50-60 (due to the fact that it's uphill on the way home and I can only put out 3w/k at FTP.  (But up from 2.8-work works).  The commute is great for the 8x1 on the way home, or 1x15, but not for 2x15.   (on the way down threshold efforts are just unsafe).  More importantly, it's a great way to get around.  How do I work the add'l 20 miles into the plan?  Back the workouts off and go for time rather than intensity?

  • 1- yes, swapping wkd workouts is totally fine!

2- if running off the bike you can reduce the volume fo sho.

3- on interval days you get the workout on way home (way in is easy); remember we don't care about 2x15(5') as much as we care about 30' @ Z4/FTP...so ride home from work like its your job. image Maybe ride a bit further to complete the work? I have a great 5 mile loop just 2 miles from my place...perfect to add on miles as needed!
