swimming uphill

i know you are supposed to swim with a feeling as if you are swimming uphill, BUT, today I went swimming in lake michigan.  15-20 mph winds straight from the north.  swim route was north/south.  swells were around 2-4 feet, despite swimming at ohio street beach with the breakwalls helping to decrease size of the swells..  swam out 1/4 mile in 11 min, return in 7....  repeated again.  sure got beat up today (in a good way). but swimming in white caps is awesome!  the work-out was great.

in other news swam 2 mile open water swim last friday, in the middle of swim it started pouring, but this honey badger don't care, what's a little extra water when you are covered in a wetsuit in water anyway.  time was about 1 minute faster than same swim at end of June last year prior to shoulder injury!

  • Believe it's "swim downhill" - but that's beside the point - great work - a little weather definitely adds to the experience

  • David - great to hear you have fully recovered from your fall @ Racine last summer.

PS  I love swimming in white caps too.  Haven't had a chance yet this year but who knows..

  • russell - yes, you are correct, should be swimming downhill.
Bruce-looking forward to seeing you up in racine in a few weeks!
  • Swimming up hill is quite an art image just as challenging as swimming in white caps I hope you were towing a buoy just incase.
  • I have such bad body position (I blame my thick legs) that ALL my swimming is UPhill!
