Wanna run a Marathon in Florence Italy?!

I just learned (and dropped off my deposit!) that SBR Coaching & Training in Verona, WI (a stone’s throw from the IMWI bike Special Needs area) is sponsoring a trip to the Florence Marathon in November.

SBR has a group package to visit and race in Italy.

SBR has reserved a 10 bedroom villa to sleep up to 20 (combination of twin and queen beds). I spoke with Jessica this morning and there are only six spots left. When you confirm a spot, you can request a single bed, or to share a bed. The villa is reserved for 10 days—Thursday, November 25 through Saturday, December 4.

She will be getting a group registration form in the very near future, and has been offered a discount for those of us who will enter the race.

I don't have a dog in this fight, but it seems like a terrific opportunity to stay in a great place for a great price AND run in a beautiful city.

  • Unfortunately, I'm putting all my 2nd half 2010 eggs in one basket, and have to wait until mid-April for the Kona Lottery gods to send me a good message!
  • Wish I could go! Been to Florence multiple times. We've stayed in these types of villas and they are fantastic. Very "local" feel. Always very accommodating. Take at least one day, preferably several more to visit the museums, and the Statue of David is a must see!
  • We are going to go a bit early and stay a bit late since Rome and Pisa are a must. By the way Scott, I hope you get a slot! I once said I wouldn't run a marathon unless it was attached to an Ironman, but running in Florence should take my mind off the trudgery!
