Suunto Ambit S2

Heard about it from a friend as an alternative to the Garmin 910xt ... does anybody here have it and care to share their thoughts? From browsing online, it's getting solid reviews - although battery life for IM seems to be a potential issue?

thanks

  • Hi Kate!  You have probably already seen the DC Rainmaker review here: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/04/...eview.html. The Garmin 910XT is pretty much the gold standard for a triathlon watch at the moment.  I don't think there is anything better out there, and I love mine.

  • Thanks Satish. I agree that 910xt is currently the gold standard, but I seem to see an awful lot of threads here and on other forums w/ people posting problems w/ their 910 so I'm not fully sold on it...
  • Kate: ok I see.  I don't think any watch as sophisticated as these is going to be problem free.  That said, I have not had most (any?) of the problems people seem to be complaining about and I have had mine for over a year and use it almost daily.  Maybe I am just less sensitive to the issues they are having.

I did have a bit of fogging behind the face when the weather was really cold and I had worn it in the pool, but it still seems to be plenty waterproof. I have lost workout data once or twice; but now I make sure to reset it after every workout and clear the memory manually every once in awhile and that seems to take care of that.  I no longer wear it in the pool which I think leads to a lot of people's issues (I have a Garmin swim for that), but I use it for all open water swims and races.
