Big training week clarification needed!!

Hi Coaches,

I am a little confused on my training plan this week. I have the normal schedule, but at the top, there's a note that I can make it a big training week based on the wiki link provided. I read the link, but am not sure how to move forward. The training plans for the week on the wiki link are only for 5 days. Are we supposed to switch out five days of this weeks training with that plan? If so, which days are recommended or is it supposed to be based on our schedule.

If you could clarify, that would be really helpful!

  • Valerie, the "volume" approach is OPTIONAL. Not required...it's great for folks who feel they need a volume boost (you could be a newbie who wants confidence or a vet looking for Kona-quality fitness). Either way your life has to support it...the guidance is on those pages, but the templates there are old; there are actually plans you can load up via the Training Plan Menu under "move / change my plan"...

    Again, 100% not required...we just suggest it and give you the option!!! Some folks do the week...others do just Fr-Sun....some do Wed-Sat, etc...lots of flexibilty here!!!

    I do want to do the big volume week, I definitely feel like I need it... Is itb ok to move things around? i.e. do the 40 mile bike before the 3 mile run? For me, it's easier to do the longest component first (long part in the morning, shorter in the afternoon). I just want to make sure I don't mess myself up... This is my first IM, so I am fairly clueless on the training side...
