Joule 2.0 problem

Hi gang,  I bought a used CycleOps Joule 2.0 back in February from a reliable person.  It's worked fine.  However, last weekend I got caught in a terrential downpour.  I was forced to ride for over an hour with it coming down in buckets.  Since then my Joule has not worked.  At first I thought it just needed time to dry out and recharge...nope.  Has this happend to anyone?  Do I just need to replace the battery or do I need to get a new one?  I saw one for a great price on Ebay and thought I might grab it.  I would experiment and try a new battery first however IMLP is less than 3 weeks away and time is of the essence. Then again, why spend a chunk of change if unnecessary.  Advice??  Thanks!

  • I think it might be toast. Once consumer electronics go south, the mortality rate is pretty high.

One trick is to put it in a ziplock bag with dry rice and see if it will pull any moisture out. Long odds but worth a try...
  • Hi Dino,  that's what i figured but thanks for confirming.  I ended up nabbing the one I saw on Ebay.  I didn't want to take any chances since my first IM is less than 3 weeks away!   But I'll still try the rice just in case.  It doesn't hurt to have 2 computers if possible.  Take care.
  • Glad to hear that it worked out with EBAY with getting another unit and hope you have no more bike gear issues.
    Good Luck
