Is there a target TSS?
I apologize if this is covered in other literature. Is there a goal TSS for each training session on the bike? Because of the weather, I have been doing the majority of my training rides on the trainer. My limit on the trainer for sanity reasons is about 2 hours. So my weekend rides are shorter than the prescribed plan. So I am concerned that I am not getting enough TSS to be prepared for race. Thanks for any help.

2 hours on the trainer is plenty. Some people say that due to fact that your not coasting, stopping at lights, etc. the "work" in 2hr is more than a 2 hr road ride.....
What race are you worrying about?
I've done some of my A races in the past primarily on the trainer due to weather, etc. I can be done....(hate to admit it but once did my IM RR ride on a trainer because of raining all weekend of the planned ride....had to do it....lots of TV/movie, IM DVDS, fan, in front of a window.....all seem to help)....if you need to do more time on the trainer that's certainly doable
Biggest factor is not the volume but the intervals.
You will be doing more work/hr on the trainer EN workouts than you would an any hr in a race.
Great points Michael. I definitely think my workouts on the trainer are much more concentrated than outside. Plus, like you said, I dial in my intervals perfectly. I am just training for a HIM in May, so I don't really need to go that long to be ready. Just curious if there is a TSS goal for each workout? Thanks for your response.
John,
There is no goal or target:
Again, best bet is to track your own rides and develop your own expectations. As a frame of reference, your typical HIM bike split TSS is about 175-190 TSS, IM is about 275-300. So when I do a long climbing ride and get 300 TSS, I know I've accumulated the goodness of an IM ride
