IMCDL done next IM 2015 need plan to get stupid fast run.

IMCDL was my first IM and because of you guys I enjoyed every minute, so much so I want to do another one. The next one won't be until 2015 some time because I need to earn some points image. I just joined a swim program and now I Need a run program that will make me ssssttttuupppiiiddd FAST. It was the bike that took the most time from the family.

Congrats on your race! That's a looonnngggg way away. A winter running block focused on half marathon running and racing would be an excellent starting point. This would also make a good discussion in the General Discussion forum where the team could share with you their experiences with single sport blocks of training and racing. I'll move this thread over there.

  • Eugene, I too am trying a get faster plan for the long run pun intended. My goal is Boston not another IM not for a few years anyway. Funny that coach R mentioned an excellent starting place as a half marathon as that is the distance I'm playing with.

So what I'm doing this season is short course racing. Having completed the JOS I started doing some pool work but decided on a leg season and stopped my pool workouts. I'm a 2 sport guy this season.

I had posted in the Forums my goal and received many good ideas. And this is what I decided on, read the book Run Less Run Faster. This book is great for an age group 56-60 YO athlete like myself. It shows how to run like its name " Run Less Run Faster" by running 3 X a week. the other days in my week I bike and not just for recovery but hard work as Duathlon is my game this season.

Coach P said work on bumping my VDot up and losing weight.... hummmm, both are a challenge but I'm down 5lbs and up 1 Vdot point looking to drop 10 more lbs, slowly, and earn a few Vdot points along the way.

What I can tell you about running now, even with the heat and humidity my legs and core feel strong. This has been something I have been working on for months now the gains come slow so have patience. At least they came slow for me and I have a long way to go but I'm in for the long haul.
    Hope this helps.
