Charleston SC Sprint Series
Hey Team,
As a new member and short course guy I thought the group might like to know about the Charleston SC Sprint Series. There are 5 Sprint races held each summer at the James Island park in Charleston SC. This series has been held for over twenty years and is very popular locally. The races are spaced about 3 weeks apart and are nice to use as an assessment of your training progress across the season. The course is set up very nicely for spectators in that the swim is in a nice lake where family and observers can view the entire course as well as the transition area. The bike makes a lap through the spectators area before heading out for a down and back run towards Folly Beach. The bike course has a few sharp turns but is well marked and has lots of volunteers to keep you headed in the right direction. The run makes two circles through the spectator area before the finish line so there is lots of room for your encouragement personnel.
There are usually several hundred participants who run the gamut from collegiate team members to age groupers like me. If you are in the area this summer, give it a try. I met Fellow EN member Jamie Fields at the last race and we would love to see more of the EN crew if you get the chance. Link http://www.ccprc.com/index.aspx?NID=1507.
BTW, Charleston doesn't suck as a venue either. Lots of good post-race options for refueling.
