Fatigue 2 weeks before full iron

Guys, I am doing the full Vineman two weeks from Saturday. I have been planning to do the Race Rehearsal tomorrow to stick with the plan, but I am really feeling the cumulative fatigue and frankly feel toasted. I've also been having trouble hitting and maintaining the higher intensities lately in the prescribed workouts in the program.

This is the fourth full iron I have trained for, although the first with EN. I am wondering if I would be better off cutting down the ride from 6 hours tomorrow to start tapering.  I know what 6 hours on the bike feels like.  I just don't want the RR to do more harm than good at this point.

I sent this in the chat function also, so apologies for the duplication.

Thanks very much. Brian Hamilton

  • By the way, if you tell me to just get my ass out there, I totally get it and I'm fine doing that.  I'm just struggling a bit with the cost/benefit analysis of the RR given the way I'm feeling this week.
  • @Brian, fatigue is good, and fixing it (now) is good...so nothing wrong there. I think that you should do a three hour ride following the RR pacing protocols to work on your "smooth" riding....no run, Sunday off... Time to get great sleep, good food, etc!
  • Thanks Patrick!
