Burning Toe

This started at the LP camp in June and has occurred several times since.  Whenever I ride over 50 miles the middle toe on my left foot (never the right) starts to burn like it is on fire. Hurts like hell Bike shoes are less than a year old, maybe 3,000 miles on them, and cleat position I think is pretty much where it's always been.  Anyone else experience this?

  • I have this, started a few months ago. Saw a podiatrist who said I had a Morton's foot (second toe longer then the big toe, eventually this will cause your big toe to lift up and put all the pressure on the other toes). I got a pair of orthotics with a metatarsal pad and this had eliminated most of my issues. A Morton's neuroma (nothing to do with Morton's foot) could also be a cause. I would see a podiatrist, one that has a sports medicine background.
  • Scott, thanks for the link to that thread.  Big help.  Did RR today and wore socks for the first 56 and it came back, middle toe on left foot on fire, ouch, ouch! , my bud Turby said to ride with no socks and, voila!, it worked like a charm.  Amazing.
