Pick121's macro thread

Hi guys, finally got around to creating a Macro topic. a few questions:

Would you recommend Interjecting a big bike week and/ or a big Tri week? I am on week 11/20 prep for IM Lake Tahoe

I am a HR bike guy (no power meter). Would you recommend switching to power before IMLT only 10 weeks away?
Do you know anything about the crank arm power meters out there?

Thanks!

Hi guys, finally got around to creating a Macro topic. a few questions:

I am a HR bike guy (no power meter). Would you recommend switching to power before IMLT only 10 weeks away? yes, but you'll need to be quick about it. You have a lot to learn.

Do you know anything about the crank arm power meters out there? I'm Quarq dealer, crank-based, as well as Powertap, hub-based. Email me at rich@endurancenation.us to have that conversation.

    Thanks!

  • Need advice on adjusting schedule for 8/31 & 9/1. My daughter is getting married in Tahoe and knowing my wife and daughter I will need 2 SAU days. I can adjust schedule myself unless you have specific advice to not miss the long rides

Need advice on adjusting schedule for 8/31 & 9/1. My daughter is getting married in Tahoe and knowing my wife and daughter I will need 2 SAU days. I can adjust schedule myself unless you have specific advice to not miss the long rides

You will obviously be quite busy that week .

Are you able to get in the long rides, of any flavor, during the week? Can you do short, hard runs on that weekends? Your priorities, in order:

    1. Get in the long run
    2. Get in 3x bikes, of any flavor. The less time you have to ride, the shorter you ride, ie, fine to do interval bike 3x that week, if that's all you can get it.
    3. Maintain your running frequency.
  • Thanks Coach Rich, my plan is tomorrow:
    Tues: long run (150 min)
Wed: bike test, follow by 45 min run
Thurs: long bike (270 min), drive up to Tahoe tonight
Fri: early morning RR swim in Tahoe
Sat: SAU day (possible 60 min bike in AM)
Sun: SAU day (possible 45 min run)
Mon: morning bike/ bike the run course from squaw (120 min)
    Tues:
Then back to regular schedule! Thanks for the advice and priority list.
  • That looks good. Again, if in doubt, just run. For example, there would be more value in a hard 60' run on Saturday vs a 60' bike. Much less admin also = more SAU's retained.
