Kimberly - Knee Injury

Coach

I have not been able to run for 4 days now.  My Patellar Tendonitis has flared up.  I switched to a new shoe insert and I think it tweeked my knee cap just enough to flare up my pain.  I haven't had it for 2 or more years now.  I'm a little worried because I am approaching the end of my GF plan before starting my IMCOZ training.  My bikes and swims are awesome but no runs.   I think if I stay off the run for another week I will probably be okay.  At this point I would rather heal it then push through it and aggrivating it.    Any suggestions or thoughts?

  • KD - Not running is the way to go. The point of the GF plan is to get you ready for your final push. So by definition, anything during this period that will inhibit your overall as developments is absolutely, 100% frowned upon. So drop it running right now, you're free to replace with one or 2 easy bikes. That's it. Do all the work required to make sure your patella tendon is back on track. It's not about building fitness right now, rather your injury means we are (trying to) holding onto it.
