Infinit questions
1) If you use Infinit on the run, how do you carry it with you? Concentrated bottle that you "mix" by drinking simultaneously with water? Carry powder? I always train with my Nathan hand-held so carrying one bottle along is no problem...but one bottle won't get me all the way to run special needs, esp at IMLOU where it's likely to be HOT and I'll be drinking approx 1 bottle / 3 miles.
2) Do you use a no-protein formula on the run? I was using a formula w/ protein on the run and noticed it foamed up a LOT in the bottle, which really wasn't a problem, more of a curiosity. I contacted Infinit support and they said it was the protein that caused the foaming and to prevent that same foaming in your stomach, you should use a formula w/o protein on the run. I did several long runs and lots of shorter runs w/ the protein formula and it didn't bother my stomach at all.
3) Do you use it full-strength? The first order we got didn't include a scoop (oops) so we just used one we had left over from something else. We just got a new order and the included scoop is fully 2x as big as the one we were using. I mixed it at the recommended concentration for the first time and headed out for my long run. I had been (unknowingly) using 25 to 50% concentration previously. The 2-scoops using the new scoop was way too concentrated. It just sat in my belly like a rock. Fortunately, my plan was to run 6 miles out-and-back in order to re-fill at the house so I was able to use a 1/2 strength solution for the remaining 10 miles of the run. Do you really use 2 of those HUGE scoops per bottle?? I'm going to try it on the bike tomorrow. Hoping I can use full-strength on the bike and 1/2 strength on the run.
Thanks in advance for any advice you can give me!!

I use Infinit on the run.
It is a no protein formula.
I use it as tecommended (full strength). If it tastes too strong, change the amount of flavor
You add next time you order.
I mix a concentrate in a flask.
For IM Lou this week I will be carrying a Camelback bottle with hand grip. I will be using Infinit in the bottle and plan to start off with a standard 2 scoop for the first couple of bottles and then dial it down to one scoop. Yes - I'll be carrying powder with me in zip lock bags. I'll be wearing Desoto Tri shorts that have 2 pockets. In one pocket I'll have a flask filled with Powergels (flask is much easier than trying to open a packet) and the other will have the zip lock bags I'll need along with salt tabs.
I found that having the bottle in my hand enables me to take small sips very easy while I'm running and I end up drinking much more. Last 2 IM's I used a Nathon fuel belt - which worked ok - but didn't get the same amount of drinking in and ended up way to dehydrated.
I'll also be doing something I learned from John Withrow - my bottle will be in a small insulated lunch box at T2 and will have been frozen before I put it in there.....thus - by the time I get it at T2, it will be a nice slushy - which makes it that much easier to drink. I'll also be adding ice in when I make a batch at the aid stations.... Filling a bottle doesn't take much time and I can get my stuff ready to go before I hit the aid station....
On your question of concentrate - I found over training that I just tolerated standard Infinit better - but I did race IMCDA a few years back using concentrate - so can work great.
Hope this gives you a few ideas......sorry a little late for the race on Sunday....
