Running in hot condition, how much water and electrolytes to consume.
Hi Coaches,
I encountered a perfect scenerio, of being under hydrated during my last long run on Thursday. I went out strong for the first 2, 25' Z1 and felt like a rock star even increasing by 5 seconds. When I turned the corner to go at my 40' zone 2 steady, my legs and head said no, don't do it and quit, and I was short on water, having my daughter rescue my at mile 12. This Thursday, I will plan better and set up water stations on my long run. What is your advice for water, electrolylte use for a long hot marathon run. I don't want sloshy, uspset stomach, but I don't want to dehydrate either. I hope to find success with my long run this Thursday. I would also like to see if I can make it to the 18 mile mark in 1:50, but mostlly, I want to finish strong. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank You,
Linda Johnson

Linda, this would be best in the General Discussion forums so Team can help you. #1 is we dont drink water (its inert); I suggest using a product like Gatorade Endurance or Ironman Perform ($15 / can here). Start with 4oz per mile and dial up/down as needed. You might need a Fuelbelt too...Sponsors / Discounts here.
Thanks coach,
I will use the aid station to monitor my consumption. My goal is to make 17 18 miles this Thursday feeling strong at the finish. I will post in general discussion and consume more electrolytes.
