Re-test for FTP?

 

I am doing Boulder 70.3 this weekend, am wondering if my FTP is low (209) and if I should re-test so I am racing at the right range?

My first-ever test week before last (new Quarq a week earlier) was outdoors, windy, and I was tired. I have been hitting all the numbers pretty easily since then. The "Get Faster" intervals were spot on (literally Power and NP were both right at 209), with the second even a little stronger than the first. Heart rate never up all that terribly high either.

Should I leave as is, adjust it up some from 209, or re-test tomorrow morning in lieu of this week's "Get Faster"?

  • Greg!!!! 4 days pre-race isnt the best time to sort this out!!! I suggest you roll with 210 as the number to get your zones and we can adjust afterwards. Even if your FTP is 10w higher, I would suggest you are a bit conservative for your race (back to 210).
