Los Cabos IM March 2014, Anyone have a race report?

I am looking at doing Los Cabos next March. I want to do 2 full IM next year and I am planning on doing Mt Tremblant with Team Reserve Aid (shout out to our team Commander and Chief John Withrow, also a member of EN). I think Cabo is an ideal race given the amount of time before Mt Tremblant but I am curious if anyone has done the race and can give me some information about it.

Whats the race like?

Is it logistically difficult given im based in NYC?

Any general pros and cons?

Any information anyone has about the race, particularly warnings, would be greatly appreciated .

  • Haven't done it but if you are concerned about logistics and you don't mind spending just a bit more consider traveling with Endurance Sports Travel. Ken Glah is a super nice guy and he and his staff will make it very easy for you.
  • Paul, thanks for the recommendation on logistics. Ill definitely consider Endurance Sports Travel. Given the distance, the flight wont be cheap etc so there will be a lot riding on the race before I even get there so making sure my gear is there in the right shape etc is key.

    Thanks very much!

Any other feedback, recommendations is welcome. I am pretty keen to lock in IMLC because its not yet sold out and its at an ideal time next year. If anyone has warnings about the race please let me know, otherwise I might pull the trigger and let the adventure begin!
  • Here's a link to Michael Johnson's report from this years race ... Dont know if he's still in EN, but you can search for him thru the Mesages tab at the top of each page. Also, Juan Vergera is signed up for 2014 ... PM them both?

  • Hi Gareth - I've registered for Cabo and Mont Tremblant too. Looks like we will be on a similar schedule next year.

  • I remember seeing something that they drastically changed the bike course to make it easier, so take all prior race reports with a grain of salt.
