Coach P 3.0 Begins...

Saw my surgeon today. He said that I'm doing pretty well. Wants to wait another week before he takes the sutures out. I do have a new dressing, so least I get to take a shower! (Small victories)

Below you'll see the image of the plate and screws. Screws on the right, that are spaced out, are anchored to the good part of my collarbone. The screws on the left, that are bunched together, and look like Rich and I did it, that's to the broken part. image

You'll also notice a black horizontal line below the screws. This is the anchor for a piece of string that is holding the cortacoid (?) process, which is in the back, up in alignment - it is literally tied to the metal plate and screws.

I am also officially off the pain meds. I'm not quite free and clear, perhaps I have never been clear, but I know I am on the path to recovery. I even get to drive a little bit. :-)

Thanks to all of you for your support!!!

  • Cool! Pics so it DID happen!

    Heal well!
  • Maybe you should have had a plate put in on the other side, just in case ...?

     (BTW, it's "coracoid" process. Your description makes me think of a marionette ... who's pulling your strings?)

  • Hurry up will ya... I'm chomping at the bit to get "the cripples" IMFL plan started!

  • Glad to hear you are off the meds. That's a huge start!
  • @Scott, very funny! image

    @Al, totally!!!!!

    @Tim, where are you at right now??

    @Nemo, thanks!!!
  • @Coach P. I been on the trainer since 3 days after surgery , walking the same amount of time, 4 days ago first run 3 miles , 2 days ago second run 4 miles , yesterdays bike was 1:30 at IF .77 with 3 x 10 at .80-.90 and 6 x 1 V02 , Today was the biggie first swim 16 days from surgery with 10 x 100 woohoo slow but I dont care! My pec , shoulder, bicep are still visibly bruised and sore to touch , the clavicle bone is somewhat numbish (kinda like when novacaine wears off) range of motion is good and I can raise my arm completely straight above my head (lifting anything is a different story)! Surgery was a no brainer. After the first 4-5 days post surgery I started to see huge improvements daily! You should be seeing those now!

    My Dad asked me How the Hell can you be swimming already? My answer was my Vegan diet and superior fitness!!! LOL.....

    Hoping I gave you something to look forward to!
  • Coach P,

    Good to hear you are on the mend.  You will be at it in no time.

    @Tim "the cripples IMFL plan"  I'm pretty sure that I could not withstand that plan and I'm definitely not going to crash just to be part of the group.  As I told my nephew when he broke his leg for the third time. "I'll let you keep that family record uncle's planning on sticking at 1"
