short course pacing

Hello Coach P, 

I'm racing the chicago oly tri this weekend (elite masters division).  can you give me guidance on pacing strategy.  I was thinking 90% of ftp for the bike and TP pace for the run.  What do you think regarding this pacing strategy?  thanks for your consideration.

  • @John, your pacing outline is a good start. Note you should take 5' or 10' to settle in on the bike before really pushing it....try to get your HR down a bit after T1. Only changes on that effort above is temps..if it's over 85 degrees, you might have to dial the bike and run back a bit to sustain your effort across the day...your call on that and good luck!!!
