Another abrasion type injury

You've all heard about nipple abrasion but I haven't seen much discussion of a problem I had at IMMT. I've never had this happen before and was really shocked by it, especially trying to take the singlet off and take a shower. Sebastian K, Linda and my wife heard me scream and cry like a baby.

Even though I refreshed the bodyglide in the area before I left T2, I could feel it hurting like a bad sunburn before the end of the first lap. I figured that was all it was but uh, nope. The lower end of the arm opening's hem rubbed the skin raw on each side. The blood wouldn't come out so the singlet is in the trash now. Bummer. Anyway, if this happens to you make sure you aggressively work to prevent infection. I thought I had but I failed in that regard and now have oral antibiotics, topical antibiotics and these special waterproof bandages. No swimming or running for a while. It still friggin' hurts one week out. And it is yucky under there. [I just made you say underwear...]

Why did this happen now and not earlier? I don't know. I did spend a lot of time working on my arm strength over the Fall/Winter to make my swim better. Maybe it's my massive new Lats [cough cough]. I dunno. I may never wear a tri singlet again for the run. I suppose the sizing I need now is large instead of medium but I don't think so.

  • I agree get rid of the Tri singlet. I get the same thing when I wear no sleeve Tri shirts or running shirts. Not all of the Tri shirts do that to me however it just depends on the cut, no pun intended. Under armour puts out a summer version of their gear; it is tight; light; thin with short sleeves colors too. It also avoids the bloody 11s; which I have a hard time with due to my massive chestimage
