Week 17 long run and weather

I have my last long pre-IM Tahoe run this week but it figures we are in the middle of a nasty heat wave.  It is the week #17 run which consists of 3x(15EP/ 30MP).  It is suppose to be over 95 when I plan to do this run.  A morning run is not possible.  What if any changes to the pace should I make?  I have not been hitting the zones on the long runs the last few times out due to post race fatigue and some weather conditions.  Thanks for any advive.

  • @Kevin, if you know your target HR, you can run by that (as your pace will slow naturally to maintain same heart rate). Or you can do the math and add three seconds per mile for every 5 degree increment over 80....so on a 95 degree day with "real feel" of 102, for example...your 8:00/mile pace would actually be 8:12s, call it 8:15s.

Numbers aside, we just want you to finish the last 30' strong and use this as a chance to NAIL YOUR RUN HYDRATION plan. So I would be looking at a 2 or 3 loop run (10k loop?) where you can fill your bottles each time...
