I am exhausted... Anyone else?
Week 17 of the IM plan draws to a close today. It's September 1st, late in the season and I still have IMHoe in 21 days out. So far, I have recovered from a broken collar bone, raced two 1/2 IMs and IMCdA, in addition to other sundry physical challenges and stupid long days.
My SAU account is woefully overdrawn and I can't seem to keep my eyelids open. I have just been soooo tired for the past 4-5 days. I have been sleeping later and longer then I have all season. I thought it was jet lag from the 3 hour time change from last weeks "Tri-cation", but now I am thinking that I am just drilled.
Looking at the last month (August), I only had 3 days where I didn't do some kind of exercise - two of those were travel days. Many of the other 28 days had double workouts. I know that I am preaching to choir, and many others are in this boat, so why not throw it out there?
The good news is that I am totally healthy (knock on wood). No little nagging issues. Feet, knees, back all feel really good. Last week I had the best power test ever. So, I feel good and ready body wise , but I am exhausted!
I also noticed that I am ALWAYS in a rush. Rushing to get to a workout, rushing to get a workout in, rushing the workout so I can get to work or bed, rushing around the office. I am always rushing!
Two IM builds in one season is taking a toll..... My plan is to just HTFU and get week 18 finished with a flurry and then really milk the taper.
Any thoughts, examples, testimonials? Can a brother get an Amen?!?

If your serious about the word "exhaustion" you need to take a good look at everything from your training, rest, recovery, nutrition. Don't blow it here remain disciplined. Dont worry your ready , take an easy day, listen to your body , get ready for the mental toughness of the taper. Soon you will be in the less is more window!
Two IM in a year seamed like a good idea at the time. I did the same thing in a year and the 2nd one was not becoming fun very fast; to much of a good thing. Well suck it up man your on the down hill side of it.
Rest until you feel normal (probably by Thursday) do your RR this weekend, then taper away the blues.
Agree with Al rest until feel better. Do RR and Taper. Want to enter race mentally ready to go not fatigued and mentally drained.
Hey Dino,
If I recall, you are in the Southern California area. Don't overlook the impact of the humid weather we have been having the last couple of weeks. Southern Californians, like other types of weather, are not use to it and may have an unexpected influence on us.
Just a thought!
