Teflon Cables?
The other day I replaced a sticking shifter cable that was causing shifting issues on my race bike. When I went out on the internet to buy a couple of INNER cables to replace it, I ended up buying a "plain" stainless cable (it says it's teflon coated, but it looks like plain stainless with a thin clear coating) and a "true" teflon cable, which is essentially a stainless cable wrapped in a black teflon sheath. The "true" teflon wrapped cable feels smoother and looks like it would have a lot of benefits--less likely to fray, less likely to corrode or hold gunk, slicker. I'm just thinking, I end up replacing my "plain" stainless cables each year, and I do have some fraying, sticking issues. Are teflon cables the answer?
