Weight management thru the season

Hi all - I've experienced some decent weight-loss through my OS so far - I was wondering as to the Haus' experience of how weight fluctuates across the training periods - will RP training lead to a significant (or any) weight loss IF my calorie intake stays roughly the same?

First assumption is that as training volume goes up then weight comes down however there is also the fact that intensity also can burn more body-fat than traditional 'long & steady'.

Perhaps this basic assumption may lead to folks naturally eating more in RP when possibly they don't need to?

So, where's  the the most significant weight-loss to be had in general?

At the moment - and despite my weight drop - I have often thought  'no need to worry about weight now, as soon as I get into RP training the extra weight will come right off'  - another excuse to stuff my face some more!

Yours 'always looking to short-cut my way to a higher w/kg',

Dave

  • Last summer I dropped about 7lbs without really paying too much attention. I ate plenty of garbage take out food. The uptick in training will give you plenty of time to lose the weight if you want to.

Don't be fooled by the OS, The 70.3 and IM training plans have plenty of volume as well as Z3/Z4 work coupled in....

  • I have the same problem but I blame it on winter. I sweat so much during the summer I am usually around 5 pounds lighter, water weight im sure. Living in Florida I am able to ride and run pretty much year round but find that I carry about 5 more pounds at the same time. I hate to say it, but I really look forward to the warmer weather so I can sweat again. But then I am sure I will change my mind when it comes to the start of IM Louisville.

  • I definitely lose the most during the race prep periods. However, I believe it is a combination of the incresed volume and also my increased awarness and focus on what I am eating.

After my A-race, weight comes back very very quickly, and then it very slowly drops off throughout the OS.
