Vuelta 2013
If you haven't been following the Vuelta, 41 y/o Chris Horner (US on Radio Shack) is just 3 seconds out of the overall lead, with two mountain top finishes remaining. He has taken time out of the leader, Nibali, the past two mountain stages, and appears to be getting stronger while The Shark is fading. In addition, Horner has won two stages so far.
What a story if he does win ...he spent most of his career in obscurity, toiling as a domestique. In the past few years, he has been claiming he can climb with the best in the peloton, but a series of injuries kept him from demonstrating that. He remains both supremely confident and healthy with only 3 days left to race in the last Grand Tour this year. He was helped immensely in the TTT by having Cancellara on his side. (By the way, this year's World Championship might end up being an epic race, featuring Fabian, Peter Sagan, and Chris Froome all peaking for that event.)
If you like Jens, you should love Horner.

He also does most of his climbing out of the saddle, he said it just is easier for him. Crazy. Not bad for an old fart. Haha
I sure wish universal sports was available more widely so I could watch this race live.
Just today and tomorrow, both Pyrenees mountain stages, to go. Then Sunday is the final "ceremonial" trip into Madrid.
