Hey Patrick,
I've been playing with my nutrition on my Sat long bikes, started w/280 calories of Infinit with 20-24oz of water an hour. Don't think that was quite enough calories. I went up to 350 calories an hour (Infinit only) and feels pretty good, in Mississippi weather 90's w/humidity. My question is can I get away with Infinit mix as my nutrition as well as hydration, and what if the weather is a lot cooler on race day. I'm 6'3" 185#, I haven't done a sweat test yet. Was wondering if my approach is too simplified, tried listening to the Core diet webinar, seemed pretty scientific. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also do I drink Infinit only on the run as well?

  • @Chris, do the sweat test as that will tell you how much fluid you need per hour. Then we go back to engineer the cals. In your case, infinIT only is preferred (it doesn't play well with other stuff like gels) and adding water won't work the same on race day as it does in training. So sort that out.

    If the weather is cooler, you still start out with the same plan...until you push out the fluids through peeing or some colorful burps, then you can dial it back.
