  • Me first unless someone posts while I'm writing. I am Paul, old guy, 4 year member of EN, but not bright enough to be a WSM so don't do what I do! I am married to Karen (the Iron Frau) and have a daughter (15 yrs old next month), Paula plus 3 adult sons from a pior marriage (my oldest is 33) and 2 grandkids. I did 2 triathlons in 1980 (in Wisconsin) then was a competitive runner until I came back to the sport in 2006. Since then I have completed 6 IMs (Florida, Arizona, Idaho, Germany, Cozumel, and Sweden) and a boatload of HIMs. I am HALF decent at the HIM distance (get the pun?) and have competed at both Clearwater and Vegas worlds. However, I have not mastered the IM distance yet. I suck in the heat and am going back to Cozumel to try and improve on my miserable time (11:48) from last year. I am fat and need to lose at least 5 lbs before 1 Dec. It would be even better if I could lose 10 and get the office to stage an intervention.

My goals for this year are to cut at least 30 mins off last years time. The swim cannot possibly be as bad as last year so that should be 10 mins right there. I need maybe 5 mins on the bike and the rest will hopefully come on the run. Prepare for strong wind and current, high heat and humidity, and hope for the best. Execution will be key. I look forward to meeting all of you there and am wishing you a great race.
  • Hello gang-Carl Noftsger signing in here from the Midwest-Iowa. I am and old guy with a young heart, 4 year member of EN. I am married to Alison and we have two children whom all will be returning to the Island with me. Keegan-17 and Olivia-11. Looking forward to landing a PR this time around in Coz. Last year the water current, wind, heat, and humidity kind of cracked me and my time was a few minutes slower then a couple months earlier at Ironman Wisc.

Been doing tri's for several years but long course for only 3. This will be my 5th Ironman and my second trip to Cozumel.

My goals for this year at Coz are #1 to finish, take at least 30 minutes off my time, and be somewhere sub11 hours.

    Carl
