Brenda - I'm signed up for the full marathon, but am 95% sure that I'll run the half instead.ย Looking forward to finallyย meeting you ย -- assuming you'll wait for me at the finish line!!
That would be nice Brenda but Syracuse and Mt Desert Island are about 9.5 hours apart.... Then again if we each drive about 4.5 hours we could meet at Tim Cronk's place in NH....
... I might be a little tired after the race... so, maybe not this time......
I'll be stalking you at both races. Go tear 'em up IRONMAN!
William - nice to hear from you. Okay, so that is 4 plus 3 from Ottawa and a friend from Philly, so that would bring us to 8 for dinner. Anyone else in? I need to find a place.
I have reservations at Maggiano's for Saturday. It is within walking distance of the Marriott. If anyone wants to join us, I can try to add onto the reservation.
I'd like to meet all you folks too. I'm not far from your location. We are racing the same day I will be just a bit north racing another marathon. Why are you eating so late when you have to race in the AM? That is just asking for GI problems.
7:00 was the earliest we could get in the restaurant. They are not even booking large parties at is point, but I already had a reservation so they made an exception. We can certainly arrive early and try to get seated. I have eaten this late the night before several marathons and never had an issue.
I will miss meeting and seeing again you folks but I have to bow out on this one. My last meal will be late afternoon and I will be off my feet by 7:00. Best of luck racing ya'll. Cheers
I will be racing the full marathon with my daughter:-) Her goal is to run the whole thing with me, have fun, and look cute in the pictures! I guess that means we'll be taking it easy. Sorry I'll miss the dinner. Staying at my daughter's house and cooking home. Hope to see you all out there!
Is this coming weekend Matt. Does anyone want to meet up at the expo on Saturday morning????? If you can not make it to the dinner, it sure would be nice to meet up with you at the expo. We could get a prerace pic.
My wife works Friday night and has to get a few hours of sleep. We plan to arrive around 3:00 pm. Do we want to set up a GroupMe or similar way to communicate?
My phone plan does not include group me unfortunately. We are not arriving until late on Friday, but want to get there early as we want to watch the Ironman Champs on TV that day before coming out to meet you guys for dinner.
Ok folks it seems like the weather is going to be a bit on the warm side a high of 60ish is called for. This week has been cold and great for running but the weekend will warm up and a 10% chance of rain.
I am running the Philly Marathon on Sunday. My niece is staying with me and she is a massage therapist. I was thinking of asking her to give me a light, lower body massage some time between now and Saturday. Does anyone know if that is a good/bad idea?
Carol - no on the tent, but I will have the flag and if it is not raining we will stick around until about 4hr30min into the marathon. I think a flush would be okay re: massage.
Great weekend in Philly. We stayed with a Marathon Nation (sister club to EN) member at her lovely house in the woods and really considered this half mary a fun one. Besides, Chris G would be disappointed if we did not partake in beer drinking before and after, so we had to stick with that plan. The day was warm with 96% humidity but I dressed appropriately, as did my team mates (Michael McMahon, Trevor Mclean and my hubby Steve).
I can not speak for the others, but I had a great day. I have to premise this by saying that I had not run more than 50minutes in the past 4 weeks leading up too this race, but since I had participated in a half mary 4 weeks ago, I knew I could do the distance. I am happy to report that I had a great day. I enjoyed my time on the course and placed 27 out 370 in my AG, Not bad for someone who did not train for it. Who knows what I am capable of if I did train.

Not a major urban race but the scenery can't be beat!

How about we arrange for a post race meet up? That would be fun to meet you two.
