Got an email back from Jon @FLO this morning and my set won't be shipped until end of OCt. He did say that he would contact me about shipping them overnight or 2 day once we are closer to the end of OCt.
I use whatever latex tubes for racing. I think currently Vittoria.
I use different tires than most. Specialized Turbo Pro. I may upgrade to S-works Turbo.
I think the current fashion in EN and otherwise is a Continental tire. When one looks at the available studies on rolling resistance, best I can tell, the Specialized stand up fine.
I ordered a 60/90 set in pre-order 1. Have had them for about a year and a half. Great wheels. Use them on all my rides. I'm always glad to see more and more people riding FLO wheels at races so I know I was right about not spending a fortune on bigger brand name wheels.
Hey All - i have been waiting on my wheel from the last preorder. Unless you made special arrangements, wheels were supposed to ship the last week of october but i hadn't seen anything as of this morning so i sent them a message and received the following reply.
"Thanks for checking in. We are planning to ship the wheels in early november. We are currently awaiting the final delivery schedule of the wheels and will be updating everyone about the status. I am sorry for the delay. Unfortunately the boat was delayed during sailing"
I called FLO and they sent me the missing skewers... Brought my new FLO front 60 to IMFL and rode it for a few minutes yesterday in high winds... Feels different than the 46 carbon Reynolds wheel but no biggie.... Sounds pretty cool too.... Never notice sound from a front wheel before... Gonna stick with the wheel cover on the Reynolds for the rear choice.
I'm considering purchasing a front wheel for racing. I have a set of Zipp 101's with PT in the rear that I got from Rich/Wheelbuilder earlier this year. These are my everyday wheels. Just did Austin HIM with this set plus a wheelcover on the back. Looking for a little more "free speed", without spending $XXXX (thus still remain married to my lovely wife).
I've done a little research and read most of this thread. Looks and sounds like the Flo is the way to go for me for the front? Loads of positive comments, happy customers, and ownership seems very involved in customer service. Any dissenters? Should I go with 60 or 90? I'm 5'11'', 165ish (hoping to get down to 155 by IMTX). I hate feeling gusts/etc, but am getting more and more used to the TT bike all the time (spoiled by years on a road bike with stock rims and never being blown around much). A little scared of a 90/disk setup, but if you experts tell me I'll be OK with this (which is what I suspect I'll hear!), I'll deal with it and adapt.
@Jeff - I run a Flo60 up front with a disc in the back and i really like this setup. I debated going 60 or 90 upfront and ultimately went with the 60. Flo has lots of information on their website and what they state is the 60 is faster if you average speed under 24 MPH and the 90 is faster at speed above 24 MPH. Granted the difference is probably pretty negligible, but i'm generally under 24MPH by at least a couple MPH, plus like you, i thought the 60 might handle slightly better than the 90, but honestly, i don't know how big an issue the handling is because the 60 has been very stable. I wouldn't expect the handling of the 90 to be radically different, but take that with a grain of salt because i haven't ridden that wheel.
Does anyone have the 30's? I have a road bike and I do a ton of climbing around here. I was thinking of going 30/30 and then having a disk cover when racing (on the road bike)? Any thoughts?
I have heard from a couple of people using Flo rims that they have had the fairings start to separate from the rims. Flo has been great about resolving the issues. Has anyone else had these issues?
I was thinking of going with Flo 30/30 and the stages power meter. However, for the same price I can get Zipp 101 with PowerTap. After reading all the Stages threads I think I will go with the Zipp and PowerTap and have a wheel cover made with it.
Peter - That's what I did earlier this year. Zipp 101's with PT and rear disk cover. Works great. I'm now looking at a Flo front for racing only, probably a 60.
Interesting, I might consider doing the same. I would probably race with just the Zipp's for a while. My CFO would not allow me to buy 3 wheels at once. I am also waiting for my Redshift Aero Bars / Seat Post to arrive, then my franken-roadbike will be nearly complete.
FLO 60 front wheel first impressions...... Installed the FLO 60 front wheel on my Felt DA2 and took it for a 27min spin on the thurs before IMFL , then raced with it on saturday ...It felt heavier than my Reynolds 46 cc that I had been riding, sounded really cool , was more difficult to handle on corners and most noticeable at the tight turn arounds, but this is just something that one needs to get used to.... IT WAS FAST and had no issues at all with the gusty winds encountered on test ride (very windy) or the race (light winds)....Cant wait to try out the FLO 90 rear wheel and then get my hands on the FLO disc so I dont have to mess with brakes and disc covers anymore.

If not, what kind of skewers are you using?
Just got mine and kinda assumed they came with skewers? Silly me.
Also have an email into FLO to see what they recommend.

Looking for advice from bike gear guru's....Bob?

Guys - can you confirm if FLO are making 60/90s compatible with PowerTap hubs yet?
Thats the only thing stopping me from getting a set...

Talk about mayhem. I was only able to order the Flo 60 Front wheel. The Flo 90 sold out in seconds. Hopefully next round.

I only wanted a front Flo 60. Got it!
