Women's Open House Invites

Laydeez,

We went "live" to our email list with our Femm Tips article, link to the official open house page, etc. I've also created an event on Facebook to help spread the werd. Here are some tools/tips for you to help us fill the open house and greatly enhance the scale and quality of the EN Chicka Vibe:

Just so you know the mechanics of how all of this is going to work, your friends will visit the open house page and register for an invite. Then, on the 16th, we'll send them the invite and make them live in forums, set them up with a sample training plan, etc. They'll have an opportunity to formally join the Team before the 19th or before 15 women signup.

Thanks so much for your help with this! We're really excited to see how this unique message plays out in the tri world. We see a lot of potential to greatly enhance your experience here.

    aaaaa

    ?

Welcome aboard! Please introduce yourself in the Welcome thread!

  • Hi,

Is this the welcome thread? Hmmm.

Anyway, Maura is a past colleague of mine, so was introduce to Patrick and EN a few years ago. I've always kept the site i the back of my head. Basically, I was a competitive college athlete and have always been active, but not until after college with marathons (have done five) and then most recently with Tris. Last summer I did a half iron, with really little problem, so would love to challenge myself to a full IM! Maura and a few other friends are my inspiration. I know I have the mental capacity for it-the training and the race, but I am SURE it take a whole new level of physical capacity too!!

Anyway, I am here today to start to make the connection and just to start reading, and to keep my mind learning about tri stuff. I am currently pregnant with my third, so won't be starting a training plan tommorrow or anything, but have a goal on Cozumel 2011, with a half somewhere before. I have always done well with my training, but have never been scientific about it. I don't understand any of the language that you guys are using regarding power and just the other language you use for workouts. So, I just want to learn while I have time to read up and soak it all in.  Ok, I really just miss the training, and want to be involved in the tri world, even while prego!

Not sure where to go from here, but that is me! Due in August, so hoping to get back into the swing of things in Feb March or 2010, which gives myself a good year and a half to get back in racing form for Cozumel 2011.

Any tips for a good half iron before Nov 2011? Patriot Half? Timberman? Those were my thoughts. I picked Cozumel b/c why not make a vacation out of it and swim in crystal clear water? I've heard it's a bit windy and hot, but aren't they all?! I also live and train out of Dedham/Boston, MA, so really enjoy training during the late spring. summer & fall months.

Nice to meet you. Love your site. I visit frequently, and hope you will take me in when I am back at it next spring!

  • Dottie-

Check here for the Welcome Thread: endurancenation.us.dnnmax.com/Commu...fault.aspx

  •  Welcome Dottie!  The official "Welcome" thread is over here: Welcome to the Womans Open House  but don't worry about re-posting- just hop in over there when you get a chance.

We have lots of ladies who live up your way with experience at Timberman, Mooseman, Muscleman, etc.  So I'm sure some of them will chime in.  We also have one Chicka who did Cozumel last year and a few training for it this year too.  If I remember correctly, there were quite a few crazy hills too!  But if you finished a Half Ironman without any trouble at all, I'd say you are certainly up for the challenge!!!

How far along are you with your pregnancy?  Have you been able to stay somewhat active during pregnancy?  I've never had kids and I'm always amazed and in awe when I see ladies 7,8,or 9 months pregnant who are still able to run & swim.  Heck, I've had my butt kicked in the pool by several 9 mo pregnant ladies in the past!  Talk about a humbling experience!!!

    Anyway- welcome!

  • Hi Nemo, have had some pretty poor news on my bone scan but not going to go into that just now. I am looking around on EN for "swim tips", actual swim videos, really struggling with my technique. I know I have found them before but if you or anyone else gets a chance can you give me a quick heads up on best place to go? Attending my tri camp in about 10 days but wanted to embarress myself a bit less if i could get some extra time in the water (other than running in water). Thanks!!

PS am trying to keep this ?? in the right forum, no highacking allowed

  • No problem Linda. A few places for you to look. First- go to the "Train Map" (under "Resources") at the top of this page and then select the "Swim" station. Click on Downloads, Written Content, etc to see what is available. I'm sure the EN Swim eBook is there (under download or written content, not sure which) and that should give you a head start.

Also- Look on your Training Plan page. If you are in the OS right now, Week 1 of the training plan has the information on the OS Swim Hack.

    Hope that helps!
