Not only is there a ballpark, there is a table which tells you just what works and what doesn't. The Cliff Notes: 270-285 is a good range for most AG athletes. If you have already shown yourself in an IM able to run a good marathon after a ride at the high end of that range at least once before, you can play around with the 290s, but you are getting on the razor's edge there.
If you are not familiar with EVERYTHING on this page, well, you have a month to go through it. Specifically, about 2/3rds of the way down, there is a section called: "Additional Ironman Bike Execution Resources"; the TSS tables are in the section titled "Webinar: Half and Full Ironman Bike Execution" Download the Zip file, the tables are in something called "Coaches' Call" I think.
One other thing; for athletes who are going longer than about 6.5-7 hours, the TSS restriction is not valid; what comes into play then is the Intensity Factor, which should be below 0.68, and the TSS then is whatever it is.

To find the table I mentioned, go to the wiki, IM race execution page: http://members.endurancenation.us/Resources/Wiki/tabid/91/Default.aspx?topic=Race+Execution+(Ironman)
