SCHEDULING
Coach. I am following the plan and hitting the workouts. I was fast on the first Strides workout, but I stayed on pace for today. I will need your scheduling wizardry soon. My normal work week is four 10 hour days Sun - Wed. (Thur, Fri & Sat off) Should I move the start of my training week around? Also, the next two weeks I am 5AM - 3PM. On 10/26 I start 4 nights (9PM - 7AM) This is right at the start of the OS program. I typically get very little sleep during nights, on average around 10 - 12 hours for the whole week.

Seriously though, your schedule is for real. As general guidance, you can use the High / Medium / Low icons to the right of each workout to determine which ones in each week are th most important (note not every plan has them!).
Before I dive in, when do you prefer to train on those "night" hours? Before you head in, or after you work? Thanks!!
ps might be worthwhile asking the other docs how they get the sleep in!
Coach,
No idea how the font changed to grey. I know with the member drive and Kona, this has been a busy week for you and Rich. I signed up as a trial member and immediately joined the Team. I have not spoken with you on the phone yet. I am a 50 year old Sergeant in the State Police. I have been doing these awful schedules for nearly 25 years. Every year, the nights get harder to do. I just make do with very little sleep. This is not uncommon among my counter parts. This is my first year trying to make gains with the help of EN. For that matter, I have always only trained based on my own plans. Last year I completed a 1/2 iron distance with a time of 5:11:10. This was a PR for me. each leg of the race was also a PR. I then completed IMLP. That was only 5 weeks later and I did 12:09;09. I tried to follow the 4 keys, but I could not hit the run where I feel I can. That is why I joined your Team. I want to be completely prepared for IMLP 2014 and achieve to my ability. So that brings me to the OS program and my work schedule. When I work nights, I am usually in a maintenance mode with light intensity for my workouts. The intensity is usually the only problem for my workouts during those weeks. The road map Coach Rich prepared for me has me beginning the OS on 10/28. That will be my bike test and my run test is scheduled for Wednesday 10/30. I will hit those workouts to the best of my ability. However, it will not be a true reflection of where my fitness really is at that time.
@Edwin, good to chat today. Yes, you will need to really do a bit of swapping workouts about. So at the start of the OS, you will be working 9pm to 7am on Sunday to Wednesday. I have mapped out that I think will work, including putting the Thursday VO2 (generally shorter) session in between two days off...let me know what you think from the image below!
Key:
Coach I am totally confused. I can't see those workouts on the OS 2014 plan. I am planning on the advanced OS plan. I could start that plan a week early and then just do a light week while I am working nights.

As for your testing, you can do the bike test on Monday AM before work on the 28th...that means the day before is off (or Sat off if you do the bike test on Sunday). Then you can plan on doing the 5k test on Sunday, so you'd have Thurs/Fri to train; I would do the Tuesday bike and run on Thursday, then the Saturday bike on Friday, Saturday off, then 5k test on Sunday!
We can talk on the phone tomorrow if that is easier! (617) 513-3830 Cell Phone (EST Time)
