Janie Hayes Season Planning
Hi Rich,
Thanks for the initial plan. Happy to be a part of the group. I have a few additional questions:
1.. I indicated that I was planning on running Big Bend 50k in January. I didn't emphasize that this is an extremely non-priority event for me, and in fact I think I am going to downgrade the distance to the 25k. I am just coming off of a bunch of distance run training and ran the Pikes Peak marathon in August. So I am much more concerned about biking and run speed. Would the Out Season training plan be a good fit for me, instead of run durability? I could just plan to use the Big Bend weekend as a good training weekend.
2. In addition to Galveston 70.3, which you have in my schedule, I'd also like to add in Wildflower a month later. Will that change my training plan at all?
3. I live in Colorado at 7000 feet and will do much of my winter training inside. I currently use TrainerRoad. Are EN workouts available in TrainerRoad?
4. I am doing Austin 70.3 next Sunday (Oct 27) as a "welcome back to triathlon" after a year off of training/racing. I have only been training for eight weeks, so undoubtedly my recovery will not be super fast. How long do you suggest that I lay off before starting the EN plan? Please advise on which week it makes sense to load the plan and begin.
Thanks a lot for your help,
Janie

Got it - thanks!
I have uploaded the Bike Focus plan and checked out the screencast for my annual schedule (super excited about Wildflower, BTW, and hope to meet you there!). Can you clarify why you scheduled the Bike Focus followed by the Get Faster plan in advance of HI training, as opposed to the OS plan? Just trying to understand the various plans and their purposes. Thanks so much!
Hi Janie,
Because you just raced Austin on Oct 27th and your fitness is pretty high. At the same time you're racing Galveston next spring, a very early season race. So it makes more sense to use that HIM fitness you have now and apply it to the weaker of your two sports, then roll that into the GF plan, then into the HIM plan.
