Run durability as a lead into OS-Jan 2014?
Hi!
During yesterday's webinar, Coach Patrick suggested that I might do the run durability as a lead into the January OS since I cannot start on 10/28 with the rest of the team. I don't have three IM finishes under my belt (first attempt/finish was IMWI 2013) and based on what I read in the Wiki document, you want only "veterans" doing this program.
Even with the plan you have uploaded currently, I really don't think I could have been doing what was in my plan since I do have a marathon on Sunday (Marine Corps Marathon). I signed up for the EN free month trial based on the offer and participation with the 4 keys talk in Madison in September, but haven't done a single EN workout yet. I've been using this time to tool around the site and try to understand it, read all the documents related to using the site and get my gear ready for trainerroad.com and ready for the outseason.
Some insight from you into the run durability and the best way to use the training and team until January would be awesome!
Thank you!

Hi Shannon,
First, thanks for creating your trial membership. Second, please understand that you and a handful of other people are in a bit of a strange, non-standard place, in that you've created your trial membership but are in the middle of serious training for a marathon. You'll also need some downtime on the backend of that marathon to recover from it.
My guidance is this: take a look around, check us out, ask our members about us and decide if we are a good fit for your 2014. That is, does the RnPnEN method of delivering their coaching services work for me, my goals, and what I expect from a coaching relationship for the $x I would be paying?
If yes, just circle back to us after your marathon and we can figure out the best course for action for you. For example, as a combination of budget, mental headspace at the end of a long season it may make sense for you to do your own thing in Nov and Dec, not paying us, and then jumping back on the team in January for the JanOS start date. Or you may want to take 2-3wk off after the marathon and then use EN through the holidays to prepare you for the JanOS.
We have a lot of tools to help you with the coachy-coachy, what training plan should I do stuff. That's easy, we're flexible and can figure something out for you. But it's more important that you use your trial period as an opportunity to decide on the bigger picture stuff, ie, do I want to work with EN for 2014.
