pain following cortisone injection in foot

I have been dealing with plantar fascitis for several months now. Went to the podiatrist today and got a cortisone injection in the heel. It is now one hour later and the pain level has increased dramatically. I can not put any weight on it. Just called the doctor's office to see if this is normal or an adverse reaction. Waiting for a response.  Anyone have experience with these injections? What should I expect for the next few hours/days????

  • ironically I just came back from getting a shot n the shoulder. it is my second one in five months. You likely will have pain for a day or two then it should kick in. Sometimes the pain from the injection is worse than the pain caused by the inflammation. My doc prescribed tramadol for the interim. Hope this helps
  • Thanks Ray,

It feels MUCH better today. No problem bearing weight. Still a bit sore, but NOTHING like last night. I was really worried something might be seriously wrong.
