Lab Tests for Endurance Athletes

I'm due for my annual lab tests for TSH and lipids.  I was wondering what lab tests I should be asking for as an endurance athlete, and how often should I be getting them.  I've been tired lately (even though I finished my last race 3 weeks ago), but when I've felt like this in the past, the lab tests haven't shown much.  Maybe I'm not getting the right tests.  Thanks

  • Bob, I think I saw a thread on this in the medical forum last year. Did you do a search in here?
  • I am a physician, but not an internist, so take this with a grain of salt. Unless you have other specific medical problems that would warrant other specific labs, you're unlikely to find anything with gunshot lab testing. Hypothyroidism would be the most common culprit that is easily fixable and not routinely checked, but you already have that ordered.
  • Brenda - I was able to find the thread - thanks.
