Sooooo, how is everyone doing? Any pics to share? My collarbone took one full week to feel better. Think it was a good call pulling out of this challenge, but I will be in the marathon relay challenge this weekend and I am in for the holiday run challenge and core challenge for December for sure.
We are well into Week 3 of the challenge. How is everyone doing? I am seeing some lagers - what happened? Is it getting tough??? Lets hear some chatter.
I'm a lager, sorry! I had knee surgery last week and so all my focus has been on that recovery. I could probably do the one leg push-ups with the good leg, but that's about it!
Plugging away, but not too happy about it! I deviated from the modifications for the last 3 sessions, but plan to get back to the lovely triangle set-finishing varieties later in the week.
Have to admit I've been off plan since week 1 - just too much shoulder/chest stress to get the diamond PUs in. So, been replacing them with standard PUs instead. The way I figure it, better to keep up with doable sets than to bail out all together.
Also been hitting the rowing machine 4+ days a week. Mostly 3x2000 at what feels like FTP+. The last 60-90 sec of an 8:25 interval the clock is going backwards. Not going to make me faster on the bike or run but I do like the way my core and back have really toned up.
Count me in for next round. I'm new to EN so missed out on this challenge. I got 54 pushups on my last APFT (Army) but have neglected my X-training for favoring Bike/Run for my last 70,3 and know my PUs have surely suffered. Id like to get to >75 in the 2 min test. I have used similar progressive training for Pushup/situp and pull ups to prepare for Air Assault with good effect (strength w/o significant size gain). Now that I'm between races I know I've lost a lot of "dynamic strength" particularly with non-TRI type movements (lateral moving etc) so I plan on incorporate that type of strength training in as well in coming weeks {for general strength as well as injury prevention -I'm 46 y/o}. A lot can be accomplished with 15 min of bodyweight drills (think old school calisthenics) and KB work. Seeing a EN "challenge" would help give me a little motivation boost to "drop for another 20!"
BTW, I Find Strict Diamond PU's tweeky on my Elbow (old MA injury) but can do a slight wider with chest touch works the same. Dive Bombers and Hindu style have spill-over application to swim strength and work the shoulders(and chest/core) w/o allot of strain. And Alternating 1 arm wide/1 arm in tight PU's(switching every 3 or 5) is my favorite variation to regular PU.
Done! I have to say yesterday's 5 reps x 2 sets was harder than today's 10 reps x 1 set. But it's amazing that just a month ago I was struggling to do 1 rep of each!
I got it done, but had to break up the Diamond Push-ups. My triceps and wrists just weren't up for going nonstop. I agree that splitting the 50 up was a bit harder....

I DO NOT LIKE THE DIAMOND PUSHUPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They suck, they hurt, there're HARD on this tired old man's body!
To the point of need to do them on my knees and still struggle with that. I may have to replace them with standard pushups
And yes diamond push-ups are evil! But making sure my diamond is directly below my sternum helps.

@ Joe - you're a better man than me, I gave up on the diamond push-ups early on in fear of hurting myself.
Seems like only a handful of us left..... then there are the 2 machines (Scott & Dan) that were pumping out 50's and 100's like they were nothing....
Few more days to go, finish strong everyone!
Only two days to go everyone!
Bring on the Core Challenge!
UGGGgggg..

Now on to the Core Challenge.
CHARGE!!!!
Think I am going to keep pushups in my weekly schedule as 3x or 4x @ 20 - 40 per day.
Nice work to those who stuck with it!
