Can't Retrieve Activity File from Garmin 500

Folks, I just tried to upload my IMFL bike file form my edge 500 and nothing uploads.  I opened up the unit in windows and trolled the directories.  There is no file in the activity directory dated Nov. 2, 2013, the date of the race.  I remember when I picked up my bike in the evening from T1 I found the unit was still turned on.  Normally it powers down after inactivity after a couple of minutes.  My first thought was something is not right.  Anyway, if there is no file dated Nov. 2, 2013, in the Garmin unit, does this mean I'm done?

    I just tried to download my run file from my Garmin 305 and can't find anything.  Maybe I should have pressed stop at the end of my workout?  Any suggestions?
