Jay Lakamp's Macro Thread for 2014.
Coach R.
Sorry I missed you guys @ IMOO. I went over to the bar after and everyone was gone, a missed beer opportunity.
I finished up 2013 @ Kona as the last official finisher as Harriet Anderson and I crossed under the arch (I guess slow EN TV time is better than no EN TV time). Kona was as expected after falling on my knee leaving the Portland airport after IMOO (couldn't walk on it for 2 days), a broken rear wheel spoke coming down from Hawi, and a 70+ y/o running in to my bike and myself while off to the side of the road. I carried the bike while walking until I got a rear wheel replacement. With the results of 2013 I can see I'll never be at the pointy end of the stick, but what the hell.
I'm going to need a new schedule for 2014 and finally got my bike back from TBT and my knee is coming along (swimming and biking OK) and I hope to be able to ~run soon.
2014: Interm. OS (I assume NOV.), June 15th, Vancouver USA 1/2 mari as a training run, June 22nd, Clackamas Cove Oly(maybe ? if OK), June 28th, Pacific Crest Long Course, may also do next day Oly too. I signed up for IM Canada, Whistler. July 27th for my AA race.
I look forward in your comments and the upcoming plan.
THX, Jay.

Coach Rich,
Since I couldn't race the race I wanted in Kona I'm hungry. I did my VO2 and TT test yesterday and got off the bike and puked. That just makes me want to go harder. I have maintained my race wt since KONA and want to lose more. I took time off 2 years ago and gained 32#'s which I've lost and I'm not going back. I'm tired of my races sucking due to one thing or another and that just seems to motivate me more.......my goal is to have a complete race. Three IM races was a bit much this year but I do like a challenge. I may not be fast, but I'll be damned if I won't finish one. This year I've dealt with heat, no water/not enough, not peeing enough, poor nutrition, nausea (TX). Chop on the swim, winds and hills, too much liquid nutrition, peeing too much on the bike (5X),disorientation, dry heaving several times, and nausea (IMOO). Injured knee pre-race, broken spoke during the race, being ran into while on the side of the road by another racer not paying attention, and nausea (Kona). Even with all of that I want to get started again. I'll see how my knee will respond tomorrow on the run TT and that might be the deciding factor. I like my drainer and enjoy the dreadmill at the gym during this time of year. It beats being around various stages of death while at work. For me at this time, training and racing is life. Improvise, adapt, and overcome. I guess some of the Liebs has rubbed off on me.
I have already filled out a race survey too....it was after I started this macro thread. As usual Bass Ackwards.
Thanks again coach!
Sounds good! I'll check out your survey and you should see your SP shortly!
