Quassy/Rev 3 from safety standpoint?

After a debacle at a race last year where the race didn't have the medical/bike/SAG support it said it would, I'm a lot more careful about race brand selection than I was before.  I haven't raced a Rev 3 tri.  Are they pretty well supported from an emergency/breakdown support standpoint?

My standards include ambulances that can get there in reasonable time if necessary, vehicles (admittedly usually looking for penalties) that may notice emergencies like a bike down (injury or serious mechanical), and means for a bike/athlete to be transported back to transition or finish if had to withdraw but didn't need an ambulance (such as bike damage/moderate injury).  Thanks.  Kerrie

  • I had a crash in this past summer's Rev3 Quassy. Alot of road rash that I was able to walk away from. Fortunately, it was at an intersection with local police who came over to lend a hand and called for the EMTs. There didn't seem to be any protocol for communicating with the race staff though. I was told that the crash was called in and a race van would come out an pick me up, but a half hour later, no race support. When a race van finally came, it was by luck as the guy said they never got a call about the crash. He then dropped me off near transition. Even then van guy hadn't called the crash in and when I dropped by timing chip off at the finish line, the staff didn't have a clue as to who was tracking accident reports. Moral of the story seems to be that even at the well run races you might be on your own but for your fellow racers and local PD and EMT.
