Have you done The Assault on Mt. Mitchell?

Assault on Mt. Mitchell

I'm doing this in May.

I'm curious about a couple of things, your race 'report' and the logistics involved.  Sounds like I need to drop a car off in Marion (the bottom of the climbing stretch) to avoid a second bus trip to where the start of the race began in Spartanburg.  I do have a couple of buddies riding, too, so an extra car is definitely possible.

Whatchya got?

  • You've got me thinking.....
  • Joe-

would cause you to tweak your IMCHOO build. Would def require longer rides on some days where RnP schedule 75-90'. As I've mentioned, it's no biggie for me cuz I'm freestylin' with rides/runs/and oly tri's. So, it would be up to you...your hack. WOULD LOVE TO HAVE YA JOIN!

it's pretty tough, find some RR's. Hitting the Gaps asap on most of the good weather mornings after the holidays, will be good training. I'd have to think that as long as your bike 'hack' doesn't interfere with your run build, RnP would sign off on it.

Remember that it's a Monday ride. Apparently, the bus ride down from Mt. Mitchell takes about an hour. I think we'll have a car parked at that dropoff, then scoot back to the start in Spartanburg (to avoid a second long bus ride), then head home. Those logistics mean that a long day in the saddle is followed by a long evening in the cars to get home late that night.

If you want a pit stop on the way home to WR, you could crash at our place Mon night.

  • Actually, that would only wreak havoc on the Macon RnR Half (which I am still not fully committed on doing.....you understand!)
  • Joe that is one tough half!
  • Alright, that's 4 of us (#4 is a local buddy who is unbreakable, weekend warrior who is a big gear masher but never seems to get tired, and knows how to ride with any group.)

I've been told that you better have some legs left for the last 3 miles or you'll crumble on the side of the road.
