change of plans

Rich, Kathi Blais and I are running a 30K or 50 K this Saturday, then we really need to coordinate our two schedules. Please make hers match with mine so we have January outseason together. Meanwhile, I still have nothing planned from 11/23 til then. Any suggestions?

  • Ok, me confused . Let's do this:

    • Enjoy your race this weekend
    • Enjoy next week, Turkey Day, etc. You're running a big race this weekend right before a holiday, no sense in starting anything next week as you'll need to recover.
    • Next week take the Season Planning Survey here
    • Early the following week, Dec 1 or whatever, I'll deliver to your Season RoadMap that will lay everything out for you.

Sorry, I'm offline hard next week beginning Wed afternoon. Thanks!

  • OK, Rich, I finally logged on last night and updated my season plan. Its notoriously empty except for ironman CHATT and the chatt camp. I am trying to save money and spend as much family time as I can as my youngest is in her senior year and it needs to be all about her. She and I have visited 4 colleges and she is running for her life, literally, to try and get an out of state scholarship. Seems she wants to get as far away from Mom as possible. I think I raised her this way! Anyway, it is what it is. I am dragging along my friend Kathi Blais and am not the best with the EN site, so she is frustrated. If you give us the same plan I will keep her motivated. I want to be in JOS but I am lost until then. I just bought some mountain bike shoes and pedals so I would like to try and build some leg strength on the mtn bike. I have embarrassingly low power meter numbers. I am using the PM to keep me from exploding and am pleased with that aspect, but I know I am not using the PM to its fullest. I'd like to get my numbers up and learn how to study my data. As a note, I bought a used wired PM and when I download I cannot merge data from one ride where I may have stopped. I am using the free power agent software. Is this the problem? The help area says there should ne a merge option but it is not there. Thoughts? Thanks, Jodi  BTW, just finished my first 50K in the North Ga mtns. Loved it, but it took 10 and 1/2 hours.
  • OK, I got my new plan and I like what I see. I also found out that there will be an Olympic triathlon in Chatt on 6/29, which falls in the transition week between get faster and the first week of ironman training. Do you think it would be a good idea to cut a week off of get faster, then do the transition week, then the Olympic, then the ironman plan? I am a terrible swimmer and I think having a go in the river will help me. I know the bike and run courses are probably not on the same routes as IM.
  • Yes, that Olympic would be good timing for you.
  • Rich, I am just not focused in the JOS. I was thinking about throwing in a half iron in North Georgia. It's ridiculously mountainous, but it would scare me enough to get my butt in gear. It is May 4th, and I would go to pre-ride the course March 16. Can you work this into my schedule? This means I have to swim. I haven't been in the pool since July. And I am a terrible swimmer. I still want to do the Chattanooga Olympic tri on June 29th and of course, Ironman Chatt and its camp.
  • Jodi,

Sure thing. Please take the Season Planning Survey, under the Training tab above, so we can capture everything I need to do this for you. Thanks.

  • Thanks, I just did the survey.
  • Ok, will do this today
  • Thanks Rich, but one question. I haven't been swimming ANY and I am a horrible swimmer. I am afraid if I do a normal swim workout three days the first week, I will think I have died. I know frequency is more important. Is there a suggestion about how I can ease into the swimming?

You could check out the first week of the Swim Camp training plan and to those workouts, for a week or two, before kinda getting back into the swim workouts of the HIM plan. And you may need to turn those HIM swim workouts down to better suit you.
