@ Coach Rich - I am in week 4 of the Bike Focus plan. It is scheduled to end on 12/8. I started running this week and my ankle feels fine. What do you suggest as a next step? Should I start the OS in December or January? Also, I plan to get a local swim coach - I have found an excellent one (highly recommended) with the video analysis. My goal is to be at the 40 seconds per 100M by my 1st OLY on 4/27. I should start this coaching at the end of the OS, right? I just want to make sure for planning purposes.

Also, thanks again for the webinar tonight. It was very helpful!

  • Oops - I meant 40' per 50Y not 100Y. If I was doing 40' per 100 I would be a superstar!

    Thomas:

    • Switch over to the run focus IF you feel your ankle is good with it. If not, stay in the Bike Focus plan.
    • Don't start the OS in December, start it with the rest of the team on Jan 6th
    • Given the date of your Oly you'll want to start that instructions sooner vs at the end of the OS. Feb would be a good time frame.
  • @ Coach Rich - a few follow up questions:

    1. Do I keep 2 off days per week. I have been doing Monday and Thursday.

    2. Am I keeping the Swim workout in the Run Focus Beginner Block? Do I need to shift anything or just follow the plan as is.

    3. My current Bike Focus block is scheduled to end on 12/8. Do I skip week 6 of Bike Focus or week 1 or 6 of Run Focus to get me on track to start JOS on 1/6?

    Thanks!

Actually, I'd like you to switch over the Run Durability #1 training plan next week. You'll load it up to end on 12/29. That would be a better for you at this time.

Please load up that training plan, take a look and let me know what questions you have.

    Sorry about the reset...

  • @Coach Rich - thanks for the updates to the plan. My main question is when do I get my swim coach and start swim training? I am extremely slow in the water and want to correct that this year. When I last did OLYs (~ 4-5 years ago), i was doing 38'-40' for the 1.5k swim.

    Hi Thomas,

You can start swimming anytime you like. When in the OS plan, Monday and Fridays are the best days for you to swim. And I highly recommend you use those days to work with a local technique coach vs simply go to as master swim session. In other words, would be great if you could get 2-3x one-on-one technique sessions with a local coach and then use those swimming days to practice the drills and other tips that he/she gives you.

  • @Coach Rich -

I am probably going to be out of town August 10-16 this summer. I would like to know your suggestions on adjusting my season plan. You currently have me loading WK12 pf HIM plan on 07/28 to end on 09/28, which is the weekend of Augusta 70.3. Thanks in advance fort he input.
  • No formal adjustments required to your Season Plan. Please read this wiki post on adjust your plan for travel/vacations

  • Videos attached to the Swim Camp training plan. I would like to review the videos but they are all saying they cannot be played on my computer. Is there a link where they can be accessed? I would like to use these as a supplement to the ebook and the swim camp critiques that are on line. I need all the help I can get as I get ready for my race rehearsal this weekend and 1st OLY of the season next weekend. Thanks.
  • Hey Tom,

The videos work for me and everyone else so not really sure what the problem is? But here are links to download the actual files. You should be able to download, open, and play them on your computer, using Quicktime or similar? Sorry, I'm on a Mac:

  • @Coach Rich - thanks, these work!
  • Coach Rich - I am scheduled to start the Get Faster Plan on 6/2. I will have 2 more OLY events: 6/21 and 7/26 before I start my HIM training plan on 7/28. My question is regarding the distance for the GF Run TT. Should I do my 1st HM TT or should I retest the 10k TT I did back in April? Thanks.

Do the 10k test, that way you're comparing apples to apples across your plans.

  • CoachR -

Do i need to submit a new season roadmap for 2015 or will you build it off the post season survey?

Also, what do you suggest I do for the 2 weeks between the transition plan and the start of the out season. I am thinking a couple weeks of bike focus and replace a couple of the runs with swims each week.

    Thoughts?
