Is there a road bike in my future?

Thinking about getting a road bike, just for the variety and to have it for when traveling, especially when going to area with hills (EN camp in future maybe). Don't want to spend a ton as I won't use it a lot (I've always done all training on a tri bike ,don't mind it or know any different), around $1500.00 I'm thinking.…
