Wingad Macro Thread

Rich,

I'm locked and loaded and ready to get my rest on tomorrow as part of Day 1 Durability Run training!!  As an update to my race survey, I wanted to let you know that I didn't get into Arizona so I am going to try for Cozymel. Additionally, I plan to be out of commission for about a week in December (19-29) due to the fact that I am going to have surgery on my clavicle - no big deal as I am just having the plate and screws removed after 4 years of healing.  Last but certainly not least, I have an opportunity to live in Kona for 2 months this coming Feb-April with a wide open schedule!!  I should be in OS at that point, but I'm wondering if there are any other modifications we could make given the location.

Thanks!

    Hey Jennie,

    • IMCoz vs IMAZ: Ok, no worries. No changes required now and we can sort that out much later in the season next year.
    • Surgery: ok, no worries. Obviously, just follow doctors orders and heal up. You want to be as healthy as possible when you start the OS in January.
    • Kona: NICE!! Is the pup (Kona? or Max? Don't remember) coming too? . Just reach out to us at that time for ideas. Sounds like you should be able to bring a bike out there?
  • Rich!
I have a long overdue update for you. I'm not able to do an IM this year so I'm focusing on strong finishes in Racine 70.3 and Miami 70.3 with the hope of an early year full in 2015. I've just moved from Miami and stored my personal belongings so that I can crash in Kona for a few months. I'm on the ground now and looking for that blond racing queen, Staci!! I think I saw her on the queen K on Saturday but we were heading in opposite directions. Can we adjust my training plan given the life and race changes? Gus wasn't able to make the trip with me tis time so I'm dog sitting for some locals.

    Yes I have my bike!

    Hey Jennie!

Please take the Season Planning Survey and I'll get it done for you. And say hi to Staci for us if you see her!

  • Alright, I'm jumping into IM Maryland after getting the EN super secret special VIP invitation. I would plan to scrap my HIMs (Racine and Miami) due to limited travel funds from Kona to the mainland. Before making any adjustments though, I'll let you know that it's been 6 years since doing a full IM and wondering if you think I need to add any other races into my year. Kona conditions and RR's put me in a great mindset so I don't think I need anything else but am open to your feedback. I don't feel ready for the HIM held here at the end of May.
  • Hi Jennie,

You're an experienced athlete so I don't think you "need" an HIM, from the perspective of learning/remembering how to race(?). That's especially true when you consider your cost of racing anything off the island. I think you're fine, bonus if you could "something" to race, just so you can have a short term goal on the calendar.
  • Ok thanks for the endorsement!! So should I just keep up with the plan for now? OS week 7?

And I'm sorry that I'm sending belated condolences. I just saw the thread about sonny and I was crying with you and others. I don't want to imagine how tough that must have been. I'm glad I got to know him! Big hugs to you guys and Riley.

For now, yes, stay in the OS. When you decide on your schedule (IMChatt and anything else before it), submit another Season Planning Survey and I'll rework it for you.

Thanks for the condolences! Riley has really stepped up his game and I have him walking with me like a champ vs the total jackass he's been for years

  • Thanks for the updated season plan. I know that I will be traveling for about a week between June 17-June 24th which is the end of the two week swim block in between my OS and IM plans. I will not have a bike so I will be at the mercy of local pools and open roads. Is there anything we can do to adjust things now or should I just talk to P in the micro thread when the time comes.

    Thanks!

    Thanks!

You can talk to Patrick when the time comes but you may find what you need here. Short answer is that we turn weeks like this into run focused blocks.

  • hello there! me again! Requesting a change to my plan after suffering a hip injury! I'm not up to full speed yet but I'm ok on the bike and swim. I transferred my registration out of IM Maryland and into Austin 70.3. Can we reshuffle my plan?

    Hope all is well!!
  • Hey Jennie,

Sure thing! Please take the Season Planning Survey, under the Training tab above, so I can plan this out for you formally. Thanks!

  • Hey there coach rich!

Just wanted to make sure I took the necessary step to request a change to my plan. I had to opt out of St. George due to a new job that doesn't allow for vacation for 1 year! I was already pushing it by doing 2 70.3's in the same month, so I'm just going to save some pennies and focus on Hawaii. I filled out the Season Planning Survey last week so let me know what you recommend. Thanks!

    Hey Jennie,

Thanks. I got it and will get this done today. Are you still in Kona with the new job?

  • Ok great - yep still in Kona, pinching myself!
