Whew! Versus back on DirecTV!
Good news cycling fans and DirecTV subscribers. Versus and DirecTV worked out their spat yesterday and Versus is now back on the line-up:

That means we get the spring classics and Tour de France coverage this summer! I was this close to switching to FiosTV if they hadn't worked it out.
Happy viewing!

YES!!! that's great news. I was getting antsy with the spring classics on the way...
Jonathon, are you a closet PBR watcher, too? I'll admit, most of the time I watch it for the rodeo clowns!
Nooooo- they need tiny Podium Girl T's!!!!!
OK- Wait. This requires more information! I didn't think Tivo worked with satellite TV (Direct or DISH) at this time (they did a while back, then there was some sorta IP infringment lawsuit scuffle that broke it up). Rumor was that Direct & Tivo have settled their differences and are working together on a TIVO box that will work with Direct TV again- but I don't think it's been released (every date keeps getting pushed out).
Sooooo- Barbara- do you have Direct TV, TIVO, and HD??? If so, How? The two things that have kept us from switching from Charter Cable (they suck- its that simple) is lack of Versus coverage (check) and Tivo.
OK, I just went through an equipment upgrade with DirecTV yesterday afternoon so I can speak to this. For the past few years we've had a DirecTV HD receiver with the integrated Tivo DVR and have LOVED it. The Tivo interface is so intuitive and easy to use my 7-year-old can navigate it. When DirecTV informed me this month that I needed to upgrade my dish and receiver to continue receiving all the HD channels I "demanded" that the new HD DVR receiver come with the Tivo interface (vs. the standard DirecTV DVR interface) but, as Nemo said, DirecTV told me they are in negotiations with Tivo to produce a new HD DirecTV/Tivo box but it has not been released yet. They told me "hopefully later this year" and said to check back this summer. So I reluctantly accepted the new box with the standard DirecTV DVR interface. It's adequate but nowhere near as easy to use as the Tivo box. And now I have to train my wife and kids how to use the new remote and menu system! AND I have to get all new season passes for my favorite shows/sports. You can bet I'll be contacting DirecTV every month or so to see when the new Tivo boxes are available and will be swapping out my box as soon as they are! (And I'll post a message here with the notification).
I have a few old (standard def) tivo directv boxes that I am clinging too for dear life. Been a tivo guy since like 2000 and a directv person since like 97. I agree that the new boxes aren't close to the ease of tivo, the interface is slow/clunky etc. However the multi-room capability is pretty cool (and useful). I keep hearing that the hd tivo boxes are coming so who knows.
You could plug a tivo box in after the directv box, but wouldn't recommend it (both from a quality and ease of use) if you really were desperate to get tivo. Even though I am a big tivo fan, the HD DVR box is good enough for me
