Powertap consistency on trainer
Hi folks,
Question about my bike on the trainer with a powertap. I know power is calculated as what is applied to the rear wheel, but would this be effected by the setup on the trainer? When I used virtual power, I know I had to be super consistent with tightening down the trainer the same amount and same tire pressure and all that. Does that matter with a powertap? Thanks smart people!

Taking a moment during the Bronco-Patriot fumble-fest to say ... your PowerTap is telling you what the watts are to turn your wheel, no matter how much (or little) pressure your put on it via the trainer. It's still a good idea to use a fairly consistent tire pressure and trainer pressure. Now, lighter pressure on the wheel WILL mean less power to go the same "speed", or faster speed for the same power. But the power you're seeing is what you are generating.
Also, make sure that you have paired you PT to TR, so that it is not trying to calculate your power off of speed. I made this mistake when I first got my PT. IOW, you can be seeing something different on your head unit from the computer, if TR is not paired to your PT.
