Magazines I subscribe to

Jacklyn Moore asked in the dashboard so I started this discussion about magazine subscriptions.   I get LAVA (nice Photos and some good articles); Inside Tri not bad but nothing really worthwhile;  Triathlete is very beginner and not helpful, but the columns by Babbit, Jesse Thomas and Macca are fun to read.  I stopped getting Runners World as there were too many articles about the biggest loser.  Bicycling I get for free and has a rare story of interest.  My favorite magazine is Running Times which has excellent articles on advanced training concepts as opposed to how to finish your first Half Mary like RW.  This months RT had a great review of TEMPO/ LT runs.

For Tri education the WIKI cannot be beat and if you have questions you have 600 helpers here.

  • Lava for sure.
National Geographic - lifetime subscription since 1979
Air Force Magazine - lifetime subscription since 1987

I dropped Triathlete after a few years in the sport since it is exactly as you say. It is the triathlon equivalent of Runners World. I've received Inside Triathlon on and off, but it doesn't seem to add anything to the conversation. I subscribed to Running Times for decades until I switched to tri. I am actually published on the inside cover of one of their issues back in the 90's. I've tried to ween myself off magazines since they stare at me and beg to be read when I would rather be out training.
