Long Run Modification for Ironman and Half Iron Plans

Folks, we have made some edits to the Ironman and Half Ironman plans to make sure that athletes with vDOTs lower than 31, or a 5k time greater than 30:00, were getting enough running in. 

I want to thank everyone who participated in this discussion....I have outlined the complete changes online in the wiki here, feel free to discuss below. 

I think this represents a big step forward for how we help _all_ our Members...thanks, Team!

  • Thank you for this. As one of the 30-ish vdot-ers, this will be huge for my HIM prep this year and IM prep next year. In training for my previous HIMs and IMs, I followed the plan and had not-so-great runs. After learning more over the years from other EN'rs, I realized the importance of weekly mileage and due to my turtle-like running, I wasn't getting enough mileage.

    Look for some HIM PRs from me next year with even bigger improvements on the run!
