Foam Roller Gift

My 23 y/o highly athletic daughter (you name it, she does it, at the moment that means running, yoga, snowboarding) wants a foam roller for Christmas. the one she noted @ Amazon seems kinda flimsy to me, but I never have used one, know nothing about them.

What's the "best" one meaning it will last more than a year and actually provide some refreshing relief?

  • I've got 2....1st came from Dick's... about $20...solid orange foam..... about 4" dia x 24" long....pretty basic....I've had it for 3 yrs....2nd comes from Trigger Point....has a textured outer surface....about 5" dia x 12" long...it's ez to travel with cuz it fits nicely in a suitcase and it's hollow so you can fill the inside with stuff....

Overall I think the longer one is easier to use since you can put both legs on at the same time and your body movement is easier to coordinate....however I like the way the TP feels when you isolate on specific sore points

As a side note I also have "The Stick" which is much easier to use and this is my default device as I use it before (to stimulate blood flow) and after most wko's

  • This is the one I have and it works great. Will last for many many yrs. They have the same ones at my gym and they get almost full time work and even there seem to last a very long time.

I use the full round, 36".

While you're at it, buy one for yourself. You'll wonder why you never had one. Glorious necessary pain.
  • I am with Jeff on the trigger point foam. I also use Trigger Point Performance Self Myofascial Release and Deep Tissue Massage Quadballer when I want to dig in deeper on my calf, quad, etc.
